Why does God in Scripture often commend those who humbled themselves or kept their hearts pure or chose to do what was right in His sight, making it clear that this was something they chose to do and it was important to Him, while at the same time rebuking and punishing those who did the opposite, making it clear that they had no one but themselves to blame?
